A team should represent a club, studio, or organization. The first 16 unique teams to register will be guaranteed a spot in the tournament bracket. If Zimbabwe Dance Studio had two teams, their first team will be guaranteed a spot in the bracket. Should the tournament receive less than 15 OTHER team entries, the second Zimbabwe team would be able to dance. A team must consist of 4 leaders and 4 followers and at least one Captain. Gender does not matter, but once defined in a role, you must stay in that role for the entire tournament. RELAY FORMAT! Each round must feature a different leader and follower from that team. The Zimbabwe Dance Studio has four leaders. Leader1, Leader2, Leader3 and Leader4. If Leader4 dances in the first round and the Zimbabwe Dance Studio wins and advances to the next round, Leader4 can no longer dance. When a team gets to the finals, they should have one leader and one follower left to represent that team. No lifts, but safe drops are allowed. A drop is considered safe if you can execute it socially, without teaching the drop to your partner. No ALL-STAR or PROFESSIONAL level dancers allowed to dance in the tournament. They are best served in the team captain roles. The tournament is intended for Novice to Advanced level dancers and, while not enforced, it is highly encouraged that your team have a good mix of all levels. Should there be an overwhelming response of entries for the tournament, a qualifier may be used in which each team would choose a couple to represent them in the qualifier. Those dancers would be able to dance again, once the bracket becomes active in the finals. |
